Roselli's Finnish hunting knife long, with ultra high carbon steel blade. Perfect for hunters who prefers a longer blade.

Understanding Ultra High Carbon (UHC) steel

Roselli UHC (Ultra High Carbon) steel is exceptionally hard, allowing it to achieve extraordinary sharpness and outstanding edge retention.

One of the most common misconceptions is that harder steel is also stronger. In reality, hardness and toughness are two different properties.

A simple way to think about it is by comparing glass and plexiglass.

Glass is harder and keeps its surface longer, but when exposed to excessive force it may chip or crack.

Plexiglass is softer and scratches more easily, but it bends instead of breaking.

UHC steel behaves in much the same way. Its exceptional hardness delivers incredible cutting performance and an edge that stays sharp for an exceptionally long time. However, like all very hard steels, it is less tolerant of excessive sideways force, twisting or impact against hard materials. Under these conditions, small chips may occur along the edge.

This is a natural characteristic of very hard steel and not a manufacturing defect.

Understanding how different steels behave will help you choose the right knife for the task and get the very best performance from your Roselli.

Roselli handmade sheath from natural tanned Finnish leather

Natural materials

Every Roselli product is unique.

We carefully select natural materials such as curly birch, reindeer antler and vegetable-tanned leather. No two pieces of wood, antler or leather are exactly alike, making every Roselli product one of a kind.

Natural variations in grain, colour and texture are an inherent part of these materials and reflect the authenticity of handcrafted products.

These natural characteristics are not considered defects and are therefore not covered by our Lifetime Warranty.
